Coaching

Leaders in organizations, whether public, private or not for profit, have significant opportunities to be catalysts for change, to make their organizations healthy and satisfying places to work as well as productive and profitable enterprises. Such leadership is not only about what we do but who we need to be or become in order to lead effectively. Thomi's passion for supporting people in being everything they can be in the world, playing their biggest game, as she describes it, is the source of the energy Thomi brings to coaching partnerships with leaders wherever they are.

As a coach Thomi is both an observer and source of feedback, and even sometimes an inspiration to her clients, as well as an outside listening ear who can often see the woods for the trees. Her belief is that her clients have the answers to their own inquiries and Thomi's contribution is to listen deeply and ask powerful questions leading to their own next steps. Her favourite client response is "Now that's a good question."

As an ICF accredited Professional Coach Thomi has accumulated more than 1500 coaching hours meeting a rigorous code of ethics and standards.

Current industry specialities include Oil and Gas, Education, Forest Resources, the Health Sector and Environmental Resources. Thomi has recently engaged in coaching support for a large health sector leadership development program as well as an executive leadership initiative at the University of Victoria.

Training and Facilitation

After being a trainer and facilitator for over 30 years, Thomi has focused her practice in three related areas: building leadership capacity, team building and developing coaching skills. Her training offerings therefore include "Legacy Leadership" and "The Heart of Coaching." Her experience as an Associate Faculty member of Royal Roads University School of Leadership provides additional depth and learning tools.

"The Heart of Coaching" workshop (www.craneconsulting.com) is a highly interactive workshop that builds the case for the contribution coaching makes as a critical leadership tool and process for increasing engagement and performance. There is little question that coaching as a key component of management and leadership brings out the best in people, individually, in teams and in organizations large and small.

"Legacy Leadership" (www.coachworks.com) offers a model and process to build leadership behaviours and strategies, aimed at enhancing the visioning, collaborating, team building and accountability practices that support effective leadership anywhere in organizations. "Legacy Leadership" truly explores not only what leaders do but who they need to be in the doing!

Custom programs and facilitation that support effective teamwork are a frequent part of Thomi's practice. Believing in the value of solid feedback instruments for personal and professional development, Thomi also uses the full suite of assessment tools from the Consulting Resource Group (crgleader.com). At the heart of all this work is the premise of Appreciative Inquiry, a focus on what we want to create, not what we don't want, and broad experience in the communication challenges faced by teams. Her license in Emotional Intelligence in Action (www.learninginaction.com) frequently features in her custom work both as a coach and a team builder.
